Martabe Project North Sumatra
PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) operates the Martabe Project located in
South Tapanuli, North Sumatra. The project has recently been approved
for development with an initial annual production rate of 200,000 Au
oz and 2,000,000 Ag oz over a 9.5 year mine life. Construction will
commence shortly, with operations expected to start in late 2009. To
ensure the smooth running of the site as activities increase, the
company is searching for candidates to fill the following position:
Environmental Manager
Reporting to the General Manager, in this pivotal role you will be
responsible for ensuring that site environmental management meets
leading practice standards. The key objective of the role is to ensure
that at a minimum, the environmental requirements of the Project
ANDAL, RPL & RKL are being complied with. This site based position
requires demonstrated experience in Environmental Management Systems
and staff development. At a minimum, applicants are expected to have:
• Tertiary Qualifications in Environment Management or Earth Sciences.
• A minimum of 10 years industry experience and SIM A.
• Very good oral & written English skills and Microsoft Office suite
capabilities.
• The ability to work with people from a range of nationalities and
cultures.
• Patience and the desire to share skills and knowledge with others.
As the Martabe site is situated in a high rainfall environment near to
a regional population centre, prior experience with the following
issues is critical:
• Liaison with government and community in relation to environmental
matters.
• Government of Indonesia environmental and mining regulations.
• Surface water management strategies to limit erosion and sedimentation.
• Acid Rock Drainage (ARD) characterization and management.
Demonstrated experience in each of the following project activities
will also be highly regarded:
• Development of site Environment Management Plans.
• Compliance monitoring and reporting, both regulatory and internal.
• Department Budget development and management.
• Identification and the coordination of disposal of possible B3 waste
streams.
• Supervision of the environmental compliance of site contractors.
• ISO Implementation.
• Spill response management.
• Staff training and development.
In order to be successful in this role the successful candidate will
need to ensure that a staff of approximately 20 professionals,
technicians and assistants:
• Follow the company rules, environmental policies and safety regulations.
• Attend operational toolbox meetings to facilitate environmental issues.
• Maintains accurate records of critical operational monitoring
activities.
• Complete required compliance sampling and prepare reports of
environmental monitoring programs.
Environmental Superintendent Compliance & EMS
Reporting to the Environment Manager, in this senior role you will be
responsible for the coordination, development, implementation and
maintenance of the Martabe Site Environmental Manager System (EMS). In
additional you will ensure that site environmental monitoring data are
appropriately recorded and maintained to leading practice standards.
The key objective of this role is to ensure that the Martabe site
meets the requirements for ISO14001 certification by the end of 2009.
At a minimum, applicants are expected to have:
• Tertiary Qualifications in Environment Management or Earth Sciences.
• A minimum of 5 years industry experience and SIM A.
• Very good oral & written English skills and Microsoft Office suite
capabilities.
• The ability to work with people from a range of nationalities and
cultures.
• Patience and the desire to share skills and knowledge with others.
As the Martabe site will utilise Carbon-in-Leach recovery, prior
experience with the following issues is critical:
• Government of Indonesia mining and environmental regulations.
• The safe environmental management of cyanide other gold processing
chemicals and 83 waste.
• Terrestrial and aquatic ecology surveys.
Demonstrated experience in each of the following project activities
will also be highly regarded:
• Development of site Environment Monitoring Plans.
• Compliance monitoring and reporting, both regulatory and internal.
• Supervision of the environmental compliance of site contractors.
• Spill response management.
• Staff training and development.
In order to be successful in this role the successful candidate will
need to ensure that a staff of approximately 10 professionals,
technicians and assistants:
• Follow the company rules, environmental policies and safety regulations.
• Attend operational toolbox meetings to facilitate environmental issues.
• Maintains accurate records of critical operational monitoring

The work schedule for all site based Operations positions will be 4
weeks ON and 2 weeks OFF.
